In late February, former Hungarian parliamentarian and PFD General Assembly member Dr Mátyás Eörsi travelled to Tunis and represented the PFD at an American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI) Libya Rule of Law Priorities Conference. PFD organised for Dr Eörsi to travel to Tunisia when ABA ROLI requested relevant speakers for a panel on The Constitution and Rule of Law in Post-Conflict Societies.
PFD’s new database with information about our members assisted in the decision to organise for Dr Eörsi’s to travel to Tunis. The information available in the database suggested that Dr Eörsi had relevant experience and expertise for the panel and the conference. With database information about each its members PFD is able to involve particular members in specific democracy/parliamentary development projects in which they have a particular interest and in which their experience and expertise will be beneficial.
ABA advised that the responses received from the Libyan participants in the conference were highly laudatory, and that that the success of the conference was due in no small part to the contributions made by Dr Eörsi and his fellow speakers.PFD hopes that this will be the first of many successful actions to support democracy for PFD.
